PostSubject: Timing a JDM D15b   Timing a JDM D15b EmptyFri 23 Apr 2010, 9:58 pm

Can anyone tell me what cam marks to use for timing up the JDM D15b? i swear to god ive heard a million different answers.

Also, any tips on getting some decent tension into the cam belt without taking the block out?

have you loosened the tensioner belt? you need to do that then push it back so it tensions the belt up. hold it there and then tighten it back up. what marks are you looking at for timing too?

there's 3 different sets of marks on the head, on every forum i go on i get different answers. some tell me to use the 7 o'clock pointer, some tell me level with the head, or some tell me to use the pointer marks just off from the level head. fark knows.

afaik, the cam gear markers have to be level with the head and the crank should have a little arrow like market on the block with a line to match up on the pulley itself, thats how it is for b series so i cant see them changing the technique for no reason.
Have you tried asking on hondaevoltions? someone on there will probably know tbf

if its the crank pully your looking at it will have 3 marks then further up have 2 marksk, it needs to be between the 2. well it is for a d14a1 anyway

on the cam pulley, there will be two marks opposite each other, these should line up horizontally with the head.

Ok so ive googled around for the D15b timing and come back with a whole load of stuff I hope this helps..

As u can see there are three small marks,

Further around there should be another 2 small marks...or even a single mark around an inch away..thats the one you use i think.

Heres a good link to help with a D15b engine

i think that aslong as those 3 marks line up with the one at the bottom and then the side one marks up eveythin should be ok, eveytime i've done a cam belt i've just turned the engine by the crank pulley to see if it goes round fine, they'll be a little pressure obviously from the piston going up and down.

i'd just got at dude!

this is the same as the d14a1. do not time it to the 3 marks. there are another two on the pully, thats what you should time the crank too
