It's because they are ugly and gay lol. It's maintenance and running costs mate don't expect to ever see over 20mpg, your never supposed to simply nip around in them the engines need fully warming up before switching back off or it can damage them, they burn oil a plenty and require loads of specialist fluids for the wankel engine. My uncle has one and they arent particularly fast for the power output I reckon most b series hondas would sit with them. On the plus side they do sound nice, have a nice interior and handle well and are rwd

yeah they're hefty, i've had a few in the lude... but if you can afford the running costs, not a bad motor for the price... if you dont think they're ugly as sin

most of this comment fails. my rather tuned fd got over 25mpg on a regular occurrence, they burn oil if you put shit oil and 95 ron in the tank....they are ugly though, this much is true. btw whats this specialist oil you say they take?

Im sorry but i think mazda's look sweet, the rx-8 and the mazda 3 sports are nice looking, as for burning oil when i worked at Halfords i had alot of people complaining about the burning oil issue, and to be honest these days most cars just drink plenty fuel.

they are good cars. but mazxda has discontinued them because they do not reach the new euro regulations for the engine. the rotary is loud, tends to burn oil if mis-cared for, and the car requires you to man handle it to get the best out of it. it is a great car, able to hang with a lot of the best, but it has become the red headed step child of the recent years. but as posted above, it CAN be turned out quite nicely.
