| Well im just waiting for a heads up from Banzai Mag when this is coming out. Should be soon.... This relates to the Meet back in December where we got over 40/50 cars turn up and a list of names over 100+ https://theorientacademy.forumotion.com/t2597-monday-6th-december-800pm-at-burnt-tree-island-tesco-sWhere all these pics were used https://theorientacademy.forumotion.com/t2692-toa-meet-6-12-10The write up... In the midst of the December snow an ice, with the met office issuing severe whether warnings, despite all the adverse conditions one club braved all, the extreme snow & Ice, even the -8 degree temperatures to bring together fellow Japanese automobile enthusiasts throughout the Midlands for one last meet of 2010. Our very own 'International Forum Correspondent' Jay 'powellyEG' Powell went all out on numerous forums and sites to attract and bring together enthusiasts from all over the UK for our end of year finale. With over 100 people putting their name’s down, the list just continued to grow. As you can imagine with the -8 temperature and icy conditions this restricted some guest’s from making it, however numbers still exceeded 50 – 60 cars and around 80 people on a small supermarket venue (despite a wrist slap from the friendly checkout ladies). The forum’s admin team were out in force welcoming all, our very own recently featured Stephen 'ned' Reynolds with his stunning retro Honda Civic Shuttle (The Pope mobile) handing out the notorious T.O.A logo stickers, Our official TOA trader Chris 'Chris @ Rev It' Wilson of Rev It Road and Race in Solihull mingling with the crowd and both Hitesh “Tesh” Patel & Dave “Dave_t” Turville socialising with all our guest’s and our newest admin member Andrew “Skyrocket” Clark explaining to everyone why the soap suds he used to clean car with had frozen solid. We also had Jay “PowellyEG” Powell welcoming all and our very own DK’s Aaron 'ezza' Beck and Duane “Attley” Adderley-Brown just froze to the ground, no skidding from these drift monkies and finally our Official photographer Marcus “Cus” Corke doing what hes good at and snapping some pics. The atmosphere of the meet was generally relaxed with a huge turn out of rare Jap metal, lots of new faces, plenty of conversations going on throughout the evening, debates on engine swaps to new styling idea’s, Turbo tuning to NA set ups. The turn out was not only huge but varied from Honda's to Nissans, Civics to Pulsars, rx7's, ps13's, Skylines to starlets. Tesco’s car park has never been graced with such buzzing and excitement of members & guest’s discussing their newest mod or recent engine tweak, a very well behaved attendance, with no tom foolery, skidding or hand breaking, revving or blasting tunes, which was the general consensus of the of the evenings gathering. The idea behind our T.O.A meets was to bring together fellow enthusiasts with similar tastes to discuss idea’s and plans and the event went off with out a hitch. We were amazed with the turn out and would like to thank all who turned up and contributed to what was the West Midlands biggest gathering to date. T.O.A (The Orient Academy) has been holding its meets in the Dudley area of the West Midlands since early 2007, starting with four original members on a night drive in a Celica GT4 ST205. The early focus was on Honda's with the most up to date styling from the simple, clean, engine swapped and dumped EG's, to all out track tuned cars. Now nearly four years on with a wide variety of all makes, shapes and sizes of Japanese performance cars, TOA is now boasting over 320 online active members and is still holding a monthly meet every first Monday of the month in Dudley, Midlands. The club is constantly expanding an adapting to modern styles, low offset wheels with scrapingly low ride heights, tucked engine bays, drifters, rat looks, track tuned and Frankenstein conversions. Recently the club has experienced an influx of RWD cars further diversifying the core line up, next year we will be joining some DWYB days and boasting many more events so please check the Forum for further details. As you can imagine over the years we have had many appearances in Banzai, recently gathering attention from our stand at J.A.E recently, displaying Dave “Dave_t” Turville's slammed EK on shmidts to Stephen 'ned' Reynolds full feature of his stunning retro Honda Civic Shuttle (The Pope mobile) has certainly kept TOA thriving. We look forward to an amazing 2011 packed full of meets and upcoming events. On the forum, you will also find many project cars, an active for sale thread, media section, gaming/tech and many areas to discuss pretty much anything recent. The general warm welcome and sense of community that the forum offers our members make you feel right at home. So please be sure to log on, sign up to our forum and make an appearance at our next gathering. All details and pictures from past meets can be found on the forum, www.theorientacademy.co.uk.Write up by both: Duane “Attley” Adderley-Brown Aaron 'ezza' Beck Photographs were supplied by: Marcus “Cus” Corke (Labelled Mcc) T.O.A's Official Photographer With a special thanks to both for their pics too.
