| Rex: An Underdog Story (Powelly’s CRX VT) After recently owning the EJ9, as most of you know my right foot yearned for more power that sadly the little 1.4 could never deliver, I started doing my research and it was a choice of a B16’d EG or something a bit older, lighter, more retro like a Civic VT or a CRX. Out of pure chance and luck I rescued Rex from his former keeper with a straight swap for my EJ9 (Lucky me). I just wanted to be back in a 4th Gen sooo bad.. Ignore the wheels and tints there coming off very soon but I thought I would post up a start to a build thread. So far very happy, nice and clean with minimal rust around the arches and sils. Take a look at me reg plate: J***PEL (J Powell – see what I did there… my own personal plate looooool) Here’s a few pics of Rex: Specs: Fully Reconditioned B16a SIR Engine fitted recently Gas Flowed Cylinder head New head gasket and exhaust gasket Y2 gear box 108K on the clock (Genuine) Recently been fully resprayed Tax/Mot till August Mods: Momo snap off boss BMC induction kit HID’s Corbeau targa seats Full Powerflow exuast system SPATS Front upper strut brace Air fuel ratio gauge Lowered around 60mm Rex is desperately in need of some new rims, some suggestions please? Any way after tinkering and cleaning, Spence turned up in his SIR so we thought we would have a little photo shoot. So far I am amazed with this car, love it to bits. Very happy with myself on this one, sweet swap for a 1.4 EJ9 . Plans: Remove Tints Change steering wheel & Gearknob New rims Front lip Jap plate on front De-wiper rear Swap seats for OEM CRX or black buckets / get rid of gash red rear seat cover. Full under seal New front brakes and pads very soon / mg zr callipers 282’s? poss? Rolling road tune Im also looking to get to some track days, so could be interested in a single drivers side harness. Thoughts comments all welcome. | |

| Nah, was eye balling this one before Spence got his, just kept it hush. You know when ur looking at cars and you find the first one you like then get led astray by others well this one was the first i looked at about 2 weeks ago, kept in touch with the lad and randomly msgd me on Thursday and said come on son lets swap.
Done deal. im not fazed neither is Spence, we think its quite cool..

| Looks good mate, you gonna be going to the rwyb day and CRX meet then now? Also if you going for nice fitment on this at 7j you will need about et25 maybe a tiny bit lower to run flush with the arches mine are et28 and sit like less than a cm inside the arch | |

| To be fair mate, the CRX forum won't be much use for fitment guides most people are running like et40-45 stock fitment. They are more purposeful modders if you know what I mean. There was one guy not too long ago though who had fitted such wide wheels he had to cut the chassis legs to fit them I'll try find you a link. | |

| Perfect canvas.
Im sure the ECU has been tinkered with too, ill have to have a look.
as the lads have said rims and height, rip out the tints / swap seats and some little bits like a lip and this will look a lot better.
