Bought this about 3 - 4 years ago, bought loads of hop-ups, 2 speed tranny, HPI 3.5 Engine, tuned exhaust and manifold, air filter, adjustable shocks & uprated springs, anti-roll bars, carbon upper deck etc., tons of Anodized parts. (will add spec list later)
I used it 4-5 times and the clutch melted Being a centrifugal clutch, the 2 speed transmission, when it wheel spins it thinks its ready for second gear. once it regains grip it obviously isnt going fast enough for second and it slips, hence why it melted lol.
i took it apart, and never got round to buying a replacement clutch, untill today when i came accross it in the loft
Super Nitro RS4 as it came from the factory
mine, in need of a clean!
after a trip to Penn Models today i came back with a new clutch kit, new glow plug and fuel
now came the hard part. remember how everything fitted!
i decided to go with the single speed setup for Drift
as you can see it was pretty bare!
after alot of swearing, putting things on, taking things off, even outrageously resorting to looking in the manual, she was finished!
put fuel in, primed - glow plug starter on, 5th pull and it started warmed up, and ran a tank of fuel through it. forgot how fast this bitch is!!! even with the single speed tranny.
Next is to clean it up, and get a new body shell so can look good whilst drifting

my only way of getting sideways now
same as in the real thing really. not as critical in nitro cars, as you have alot more power, in comparison to the real thang, so you can power over whatever the set-up. But suspension set-up, camber, toe, diff all need setting up. i want to lock the rear diff, but will get a spare to work on first lol
Had to rebuild the clutch again today, the bearing on the clutch bell was DONE! fitted a spare and its cool now.
ran a tank of fuel on idle, with a few revs to clear out the cobwebs out and check the tune, then a tank blasting around the back garden, bang on - running sweeet!

ordered some stuff:
Hpi Fail Safe
Plug it in between the throttle servo and receiver, Press the button on the failsafe to select the throttle position, neutral or partial brake. If the batteries go low, or you go out of range, it defaults to the pre-set position, so it doesnt run off on its own
Alloy Upper Deck - carbon one has a crack in it
Hard Compound Drift Wheels
and a 350z Body Shell
comes in clear lexan, not sure what colour to go for yet.
Took it into work to get the airline on it for a much needed clean!
when the bodyshell comes, i will start on making a custom exhaust, to exit from the rear as it should
