Diff Leak? Empty
PostSubject: Diff Leak?   Diff Leak? EmptyThu 02 Jun 2011, 9:50 am

I'm not sure what is leaking but looks like its the diff. Its the last step from the gearbox to the driveshaft so im guessing its the clutch or diff i dont realy know what's what down there lol Its a yellow slippy liquid like oil but cleaner? Im thinking its a gasket cos its leaking at the seal. Theres also a worn bearing whine which i think could be from lack of oil? I duno im totaly clueless when it comes to this stuff. Ive got a civic if that matters

So where exactly is the oil coming from? where the driveshaft meets the box?

ek3 civic. im prety sure its a gasket problem. will it last 300 miles? because i dont have time to get it fixed for atleast a week. also it doesnt leave a pool after i drive away so it cant be leaking that badly, unless its all drained already ofcourse.. I took it to honda to replace my driveshafts a while ago so maybe it was when they were replacing the fluid it wasnt tightened properly or whatever. I just wanted to check here before ordering a gasket and trying to fix it only to get covere in oil and not have any to top up with

if its just a slight leak (only one of two drops a night) then it should be ok for a while
