PostSubject: '99 CW ek9   '99 CW ek9 EmptyThu 10 Nov 2011, 6:12 am

Hi all,

JUST GAUGING INTEREST AT THE MOMENT.

Never thought i would be writing this but i think its time i sold my beloved ek9.

This is not only my pride and joy but this car is my whole life, the amount of time/effort/hard work gone into this is unreal. My girlfriend sometimes jokes saying i love it more than her! I spend that much time cleaning, messing, under the bonnet, touching. I totally admire this car, it has to be one of the best cars on the roads if not THE best!

My heart is telling me to keep it but my mind is for some reason telling me to move on, i really dont want to sell it! But theres just that little something in my mind! When this car goes i will literally cry my eyes out.

Car is a 1999 facelift ek9 in championship white.

Shell has currently just gone 98,000 , showing 139,000 - when imported to the UK the guy who converted it to read in MPH converted the kilometers to go up in miles but without winding it back, so you have to take away 41,008 from the display to get the correct reading, have a sheet to prove this.
Engine is approx 83,000

Have all the import documentation and registration details.

Engine:-
Complete '96 b18c-r engine
B18c inlet manifold
B18c throttle body
B18c fuel rail
B18c injectors
P73 ecu
Obd2b-obd2a conversion harness
ITR air box with new OEM filter
OEM exhaust
Tegiwa decat wrapped
Jasma stamped 4-2-1 manifold wrapped
Innovitive 65a mounts
New OEM rocker cover gasket
Freshly painted rocker cover in OEM wrinkle red
Complete strip down and clean of all parts
Power steering removed
Freshly painted bay in CW
OEM Timing belt done around 5,000 miles ago
Fully serviced by myself including oil and filter changes every 3500miles with castrol gtx 10w 40
gearbox oil changes every 5000 miles with honda mtf
New OEM fuel filter
Ngk blue leads only 3000 miles
Ngk iridium plugs only 3000 miles
New OEM dizzy cap
New OEM rotor arm
OEM baffled sump

Gearbox:-
S4c with OEM LSD from the ek9 with 98,000
Stripped down to replace main input shaft bearing (OEM honda), cleaned and rebuilt
New OEM release bearing
New OEM pilot bearing

Exterior:-
Outside is all OEM looking
Complete strip down of Suspension, subframe, arb's,wishbones, trailing arms, fuel tank, exhaust, etc.  To be cleaned, left to dry then 3 coates of anti rust, 3 coates of zinc primer and 3 coates of chassis black, all done by me around 5 months ago, took me a week solid of 12-15 hour shifts to do all this.
8000k hid kit
New window wipers
New OEM side and rear decals
New OEM front badge
New OEM rear badge

Interior:-
2 recaro spg bucket seats in black
2 willans 4point 3 inch harnesess in black
Momo monte carlo steering wheel 350mm
Stripped rear
No seat belts
SPA dual digital gauge oil temp/oil pressure
VDO water temp gauge
No stereo (one can be fitted)
Mugen pedals

(will more than likely be keeping the seats/harnesess'/steering wheel for my new car, will replace with OEM recaros/seatbelts/ steering wheel)

Chassis:-
Meister r zeta r with 12kg/mm front, 10kg/mm rear
OEM front strut brace
OEM wheels freshly painted in CW
Yokohama prada spec 2 tyres 1500miles
New OEM track rod ends
New OEM front wheel bearings
New OEM cv boots
New OEM steering rack boots
ARP extended studs
Wilwood 4 pots 500miles
Ds2500 brake pads 500miles
Grooved 282mm discs from japan worth over £200
3mm spacers

Bad bits:-
Too be honest i have replaced all the common things to go wrong but every car has its bad bits,
1 head light has slight crack in it
Few dings around the body
Few stone chips ( have been touched in with nh-o touch up pen)
Spoiler isnt the best colour
Drivers side wing mirror casing has slight damage
Front splitter has a few scrape marks
Needs a new O2 sensor but this will be bought and fitted before the sale.

I have owned the car since october 2008 and no other car ive owned has felt anywhere near as good to drive as this does, people thought i was mad selling my ep3 to get this but they were wrong, ive loved every second of owning it, this car always puts a smile on my face and not many of them about makes this car even better, people are just breaking these now because they can make more money but eventually there wont be any left! So i want to keep an excellent example on the roads.

The ride is hard, the dash rattles due to the mounts and lots of road noise due to no rear interior but this is what makes this car the way it is, drives in my eyes like a dream, pulls very strongly, stops very quickly and handles like its on rails. Shame really as ive never tracked this but always wanted too, everytime its been ready its winter so just havent had time.

Im sure who ever buys this will love it as much as i do and will continue to maintain and progress further with the car.

7 months MOT
2 months TAX, will add 6 months if need be. Even though the car is a 1999 because it was imported into the UK in 2008 its 'classed' as a 2008 car so tax band is classed on emissions and not engine size like it should be!!

£7650 ovno

I think this is a fair price considering all the work thats been put in and all the parts that have been replaced/added.

Part exchange welcome - would consider a mitsibushi lancer evolution 6 or 8 fq340

If anyone thinks this price is too high  please let me know.

You must be mad Ben.

Best ek9 on the roads, the time you've put into this is mental mate. Remember when I first met you at the orbitals when you first had it, must be bad to think
About gettin rid now mate.

If I were in the market for a ek9 I wouldn't think twice about ripping your arm off.

Very track capable spec especially after the chassis strengthening.

Glwts matey.

You won't need it.

I know spence/lee, ive just been doing alot of thinking lately.

I may still keep it, im gonna go test drive a few evos

Even though i have said 6 & 8 in the advert ive taken a liking to the 4's too Smile

But until ive driven them im never gonna know, i reckon i will be able to tell if i like it right away.

I just need to do something with my 9er to make me love it even more, was thinking a full gearbox overhaul, full gearset with f/drive and a 2 way plated diff with a new clutch and flywheel, would make the car even more immense i reckon!

But we will see

Whats the 9 like in comparison to evo's / imprezas now? I'm guessing stock cars are pretty equal to the 9 upto license losing speeds. I always enjoy a good sleeper car and enjoy the fact that I can or know friends who can help me with my Honda and it isn't going to cost the world to fix little issues and service while still having plenty of fun driving it. But at the same time can see the appeal of big easy turbo power and 4wd. If it were me I'd aim for perfection with the 9 go down the gearbox route and get some silly cams and a good dyno tune and I'm sure you will fall in love again. Also get on track with it right now.

Like you say pallett the 9 is pretty much on par with evos/subarus as it stands

Evo as a daily would cost just as much as the 9

I do 50mph on the dual carriage way to and from work so would be out of boost and would actually be more economical than the 9

Insurance is slightly more on the evo but thats no big issue

Only thing more expensive is like pallett said maintenance but would carry all the work out myself

Tbf i dont know what to do, as per our conversation the other day pallett i may just keep it and chuck some money at it next year, as said get a good gear setup then work on the engine and a cage and what not, will see how i feel by end of december i think, i reckon if the crx was on road it would give me more motivation!!!!!!!!!!

Well I've got an interview at that place I was saying about so hopefully if all goes well come new year should have a new job paying pretty well so should be able to get it all sorted easily for beginning of summer.
Just do what feels best for you man can't hurt trying something else, I keep looking at mr2 turbos for some reason. Think it's just a case of getting bored of looking at the Rex sitting there haha.
