| Thought id share pics an info, im on a sharp learning curve with BBS's Split my first one last night in my bedroom (cheers rye and ned), all sorts of sexual inuendo's ensued, - Quote :
- Rye just split ez's rim in his bedroom for him
and so on...lol anyway: The first one came apart with (alot of) brute force, outer lip first then face which was (now i know) the easiest way, the second one the outer lip and face came off together making it nearly impossible to seperate them, but i can tell you that they do fit in the oven, put it in at 250 for 5 mins, hold it with some oven gloves and smacked it with a mallet, shit came straight out. on my 3rd wheel now, having a break, my arms are KILLING!!!

| BTW, the best tools to split them are; x2 1/4inch ratchets x1 halfords 8mm socket for the bolts (splined, 12 splines) x1 halfords 10mm socket for the nuts(same) Like the one 3rd from the left: | |

| FYI the lips on Rs's ARE laquered, stripped the laquer off my lips tonight, gunna head down to halfords at some point to get me some sand paper & polish.
Need to work my way up to 2000 grit starting at about 5-600 grit.

| From what I've read to refurbish start with 400 then move to 800. You can start on 800 if condition isn't bad. For the main body of my wheel I stripped with Nitromors, used a wire wheel to strip the rest of the paint off then sanding to 400. Was planning on layering some etching primer followed by regular primer on top of this then sanding the primer down with 800 grit.
As for preparing to polish move up to 1200 or 1500, I'm planning on going from 800-1500 then polishing. 2000 grit will help with polishing but it may be overkill.
I'm yet to actually try and polish my lips yet though so this isn't first hand info.
