| Okay so a bit of background i have always been into my jap cars, but never really had the time or money to do much. Now its slightly different i dont have any money still, but working on a proper project car. This is what happened to my first EG: After that i drove some other shitters for a while untill i had an Ek which was nice, but i was desperate for another eg so hunt began and this is what i ended up with. So started all the stripping work. Once is was stripped was time to tackle the body work the arches were pretty fucked, common with these cars so ordered some new ones in and got them welded up. So first we got the new arch ready and checked the fitment. Next we had to cut out the rotten arch that we were going to replace. The inner arch was okay really but it did look to us as if someone had try to roll the arches before or something :S There was a slight hole in the inner arch so i had that patched up. Once that was patched up and i was happy with it we got some sealer over the inner arch to protect the panel from water getting behind it basically trying to slow the rusting and rotting process. After the cutting was complete we grinded the area around the arch and the arch itself, because civics are made from thin metal alot of heat would distort it and i would need more filler. So the best way to do it is tack it on in a few places, grind the tacks down and repeat. You will never be able to stop the panel distorting, but can try to minimize it. The welder needed a new tip anyways so we havent finished the arch work will continue tomorrow and we can get the other side done, also will cover over where the aerial goes on the A pillar. When the arches are done i will clean the inner arch and underseal them to try and protect them further. Hopefully they shouldnt rust for a long time!!!! Finished one side, obviously needs filler. JDM boot So the plan at that point was to just respray and put it back together, but my mate smashed his Vti into the wall so i bought the car and started stripping that ready to swap the engine and suspension etc over to the vei. Rear disc conversion Decided to paint the engine bay didnt want it to be rusty milano red anymore Next up was the cambelt and water pump. My mate needed some bits painting for his EK4 so got on with that. Then prize for my work plus some cash Then i did my clutch and got 8 litres of Castrol Magnatec for £25 bargain Okay i pissed the boss of so now have a deadline to get the car done and I-tuned isnt helping me with my mounts! Nevermind the shell has been primed and i painted it today, going to start putting it back together tomorrow and get the rear suspension changed and then when my mounts arrive put engine in and all good! Okay update time again been busy doing bits on the car, was waiting on my mounts and what a mission long story, took three plus weeks to get here the filling was shit i ripped two of the mounts apart and had to modify the two torque mounts not happy. Was a mission getting the engine in because the rear bracket was bent so sorted that and ordered a new cambelt mount. Anyways engine is in and fired up first turn off the key what a result very happy. Got to paint the rest of the parts and put it all together and do all the little jobs and its back on the road.

| Thanks for the comments guys the bay was a rush job its not great and with trying to get the engine in its not helped. This engine is only for now, hopefully going to get a b20 in there so when the engine is next out the bay will get a full treatment. I'm just putting it all together atm and now i noticed the speedo is out, any ideas?
As for the paint work im sure we could sort something out ha ha, the car needs alot of flat and polishing atm to get it to a standard im happy with. Im running out of time on the build so colour coding etc will have to wait for a bit longer.

| that is 100% the best way to get an engine in/out without even touching the bay, litterally. | |

Drove it from the workshop tho and its amazing i love it sounds great and goes like stink. Have a custom Honda Accord radiator in there twin fans FTW also little custom backbox. Will get some more pictures up when it gets the final flat and polish! Hope to have it ready for Mimms and the next TOA meet on the 4th!
